Enlightened solutions within your grasp
The arts play an important role in fostering healthy, vibrant communities. Expression through the arts is a language that transcends the barriers of human differences to improve cultural awareness and appreciation.
That's why I'm pleased to serve on the Board of Directors as a Vice President for Civic Theatre of Allentown I am committed to supporting the continued success of this organization for future generations to enjoy.
The rewards are expressed on the proud faces of the actors, their parents, families and friends; the joy manifested through the enthusiastic applause of the audience; the dedication exemplified through the staff, the volunteers, the Board. There is great depth of purpose that this esteemed organization holds within our community. That is why it has endured for over 80 years.
If you have enjoyed the many live performances and independent films shown over the years at the 19th Street Theatre and would like to volunteer or help Civic Theatre in other ways, please let me know. I will put you in touch with the appropriate person in the organization.
Civic Theatre of Allentown is a 501(c)3 organization with a rich history spanning 85 years as a landmark, community-based, professionally staffed, performing arts center. We exist to enrich the lives of people in the Lehigh Valley through theatre, cinema and theatre school education for children.
Civic Theatre of Allentown is the Lehigh Valley’s premiere community theatre. It is a place to experience extraordinary productions in a 500-seat theatre centrally located in the West End of Allentown.
Each year, Civic stages more than 50 public performances of four to six Broadway musicals, classic dramas, and award-winning contemporary plays from on and off-Broadway. The diversity of subject matter explored on Civic’s stage ranges from literary classics like Dickens’ A Christmas Carol to blockbuster musicals such as Beauty and the Beast to provocative dramas such as The Fifth of July and Circle Mirror Transformation. Civic draws on a volunteer corps of more than 300 volunteers. Annual audience for live theatre is 18,000, including 3,500 children who visit with their class.
With a deep pool of local talent and its academically-trained artistic director-choreographer who has worked on Broadway and off-Broadway, Civic has achieved standards of artistic and technical excellence that are generally considered beyond the reach of most community theatres.
